Outside of her legal practice, Karlin is an avid traveler and always has an upcoming trip on the books, which she considers the secret to happiness. She is a certified travel advisor and, when she is not planning trips for herself, is planning them for friends and family. She is exceptionally skilled at building detailed itineraries.
Karlin lives in Abita Springs with her husband, their four children, two rescue dogs, hermit crabs, three fish tanks and a sometimes-productive garden. Not content with the number of living things already under her care, the family plans to build a rabbit hutch and chicken coop in the near future.

Karlin Fitzmorris brings more than a decade of experience serving in senior leadership and legal roles within local government, offering clients a rare combination of practical insight and legal acumen. Her background includes serving as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of St. Tammany Parish Government, St. Tammany Parish Council Administrator and Assistant District Attorney in the Civil Division. In these roles, she represented the parish in litigation and claims and provided counsel to the Parish Council, Planning and Zoning Commissions and numerous public entities, including fire, recreation, levee, drainage and other local taxing districts.
Karlin advises local governments, councils, boards and special districts on a wide range of governance and operational matters, including ordinance and code drafting, public meetings compliance, procurement, ethics and intergovernmental relations. She is a trusted advisor to elected officials and senior leadership on legislative process, policy development and complex organizational challenges, helping clients navigate decision-making with clarity and confidence.
Her practice also focuses on land use, regulatory matters and public infrastructure. She counsels governmental entities on zoning, planning and development, utilities, public works, facilities management and public health issues, and provides legal support for infrastructure projects, regulatory compliance, permitting, and public contracting. In addition, Karlin oversees public sector litigation and risk management, advising clients on employment, labor, and human resources issues while aligning legal strategy with organizational priorities and budgetary realities.
