Outside the Office
Stephanie is an avid 4.0 tennis player and a member of her local women’s tennis league, where she enjoys both the competition and camaraderie.
When not on the court, she and her husband stay more than busy raising three kids (an LSU Tiger, a LaTech Bulldog and a Tchefuncte Gator) and keeping the family beagle, Clover, out of trouble. Stephanie loves international travel, particularly to visit family and friends in Central and South America.

Stephanie Hough brings her diverse international background as a dual licensed Spanish speaking attorney to Smith Sconzert. Having worked for the U.S. Department of State, international law firms and corporations, Stephanie is well suited to support and counsel clients in a wide scope of matters. Today, her practice focuses on professional liability defense, municipal law, contract negotiation, corporate law and intellectual property.
Stephanie defends medical professionals, healthcare institutions and attorneys against malpractice claims, and represents a broad range of licensed professionals facing disciplinary actions and board complaints. In addition to her professional liability practice, she delivers comprehensive legal support to clients across industries and business stages, from individuals to large corporations. Stephanie offers expert guidance and representation for all types of contracts, carefully tailored to each client’s unique needs. Stephanie also assists clients with U.S. trademark registration and intellectual property rights, including advising foreign corporations seeking to enter the U.S. market.
Stephanie also serves as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Mandeville, with a focus on municipal contracts, ordinances, public bid law and historic preservation. Stephanie provides strategic legal guidance to municipalities in navigating complex regulatory and contractual issues.
She remains active with both Tulane and Loyola alumni groups as well as the Louisiana and the Guatemalan Bar Associations. She’s a member of the U.S. Foreign Service Youth Foundation and founded and chaired the U.S. Embassy’s Employee Association for more than 250 U.S. government staff in Asuncion, Paraguay. New to the Northshore, Stephanie looks forward to similar involvement locally.
